The Demon Sizzler (code A59) had the hood scoops and sport stripes, but was not available with the 340, just the base engines. The Sizzler had sporty looks in an economical package. There were many performance options available for the Demon
340, such as the TorqueFlight automatic and the heavy-duty
4-speed manual transmissions, hefty twin air scoops and
matte black hood panels. A go-wing rear spoiler was also
available. Inside, available options included vinyl bucket
seats, cloth/vinyl bench seats, Tuff steering wheel, center
console and a 6000 rpm tachometer. "Road Test" magazine tested the Demon 340 in April 1971. In stock street attire the Demon went 0-60 in 7.8 seconds and ran the 1/4 mile in 14.56 seconds @ 96 mph. Another magazine had the Demon 340 at 0-60 in 6.5 seconds with a 1/4 time of 14.5. Of the approximately 69,000 Demons that were built in 1971 - roughly 10,000 were Demon 340's.
